Privacy Policy for Evergreen SEO Extension
Effective date: November 5, 2026. Last updated: November 5, 2026.
OVERVIEW. Evergreen SEO Extension (“the Extension”) is a browser extension published by Evergreen Digital (“we,” “us,” “our”), located in Traverse City, Michigan. The Extension analyzes the SEO data of web pages you choose to inspect. We built it to run locally in your browser. We do not operate user accounts, we do not run servers that receive your browsing data, and we do not collect personal information through the Extension.
INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell your browsing history, the content of pages you visit, the URLs you inspect, your personal information, your location, your financial or health information, or your identity. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies inside the Extension. We do not create user profiles.
HOW THE EXTENSION WORKS WITH PAGE DATA. When you click the Extension icon or open the side panel, the Extension reads the current page’s HTML, metadata, headings, links, images, and structured data directly in your browser. This analysis happens on your device. The results are displayed in the panel and are not sent to Evergreen Digital or to any other party. When you close the panel or navigate away, the results are discarded unless you export them yourself.
DATA STORED ON YOUR DEVICE. The Extension uses your browser’s local storage only to save your settings, such as your theme choice, default tab, and preferred length thresholds. This information stays in your browser, is not transmitted to us, and can be cleared by removing the Extension or clearing its data in your browser settings.
NETWORK REQUESTS THE EXTENSION MAKES. To provide certain features, the Extension makes requests from your browser to websites related to the page you are inspecting. These include requests for the domain’s robots.txt and sitemap.xml files, requests to check the HTTP status codes of hreflang alternate URLs, and, only when you click the status check button, requests to check the status codes of links found on the page. These requests go directly from your browser to the target websites. We do not route them through our servers, and we do not receive copies of them. The operators of those websites may see the requests in their own server logs, as they would with any visitor.
THIRD PARTY TOOL SHORTCUTS. The Tools tab includes shortcut buttons that open the domain you are viewing in outside services such as Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, Majestic, SimilarWeb, Wayback Machine, Google, PageSpeed Insights, and the Rich Results Test. These shortcuts open a new browser tab only when you click them. Once you are on a third party site, that site’s own privacy policy applies, and we are not responsible for how they handle data.
EXPORTS. When you use the export feature, the Extension creates a CSV or JSON file on your device. The file is saved where you choose and is not sent to us. You are responsible for how you store and share the files you create.
PERMISSIONS. The Extension requests only the permissions it needs. activeTab and scripting allow it to read the page you are currently viewing when you open the panel. storage saves your settings locally. sidePanel displays the interface. Host permissions allow the Extension to fetch robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and status codes for URLs related to the page you are inspecting. We do not use any permission for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s single purpose of showing SEO information about the page you are viewing.
CHROME WEB STORE USER DATA POLICY. The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, other than for approved use cases or to comply with the law. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the Extension’s core functionality. We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY. The Extension is a professional tool intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
SECURITY. Because analysis runs locally and we do not collect your data, there is no central database of user information for us to protect or for others to breach. The Extension does not load or execute remote code. We recommend that you install it only from the official Chrome Web Store and keep your browser up to date.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION. We do not hold any user data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our end. To remove everything the Extension has stored on your device, uninstall the Extension from your browser or clear its site data in your browser settings.
CONTENT AND COMPLIANCE NOTICE. The Cannabis tab provides general SEO checks, including age gate detection, menu rendering checks, local business schema checks, and license number detection. These checks are informational only. Cannabis advertising and content rules vary by state and locality. The Extension does not provide legal advice, and you are responsible for compliance with the laws that apply to your business.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at the same web address. If we make a material change to how the Extension handles data, we will note it in the Chrome Web Store listing and the Extension’s release notes. Your continued use of the Extension after a change means you accept the updated policy.
